Description:

This is a detailed very attentive translation of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. This is not for supporting any philosophy nor legitimatizing ideas of oneness(advaita). It is not for using Patanjali to give validity to a concept of enlightenment or liberation. Patanjali's indepth exploratory diagram of the human psyche is clear to see in these compressed verses of his thesis.

Author's Comment / Back Cover:

This book is for beginner, intermediate and advanced yogis with special emphasis on what Patañjali had to say about yoga. The author had no intention of using these sutras to validate any meditation scheme.

There is no verse in the Sūtras which describe yoga as being union or as being just based on the Sanskrit root word yuj. For that matter Patañjali defined yoga as having eight distinct and clearly definable parts.

If you practice you could estimate your position and progress by matching your experiences to the layout given by Patañjali. If you are just curious, you will be informed of the methods used in the time of Patanjali.

Reviews:

A Tiny Book With a Lot of Pics--by John Wilson "JW" (Songtan, Korea), April 28, 2011

I got this book as soon as it was released as a gift from the author. It's basically a simple translation of the classic Yoga Sutras texts. What he's done is put a lot of pictures in with the ancient yoga lessons. There are tons of pictures which I identified with a lot more than the text. I'm very visual and I found the pictures to be much easier to understand than the verses which you need to read a couple times to turn it over in your mind. I found that my default mode of operation in my mind is in the analytical orb that sits in front of the self. Most of the time I can't even reach the self b/c my analytical mind is working overtime. His best book yet and it can be read in a a day or two if you go easy.
